Genomics‐assisted lentil breeding: Current status and future strategies

چکیده
Genomics-assisted breeding has become a powerful tool to develop high-yielding climate-resilient varieties for adaptation adverse environmental conditions such as heat and drought stresses. Previously, efforts have been made genomic resources in lentil, leading the development of many trait-specific mapping populations, cores mini-cores, single nucleotide polymorphism simple sequence repeat markers. Molecular markers used genetic diversity analyses clarify relationships lentil. However, availability cost-effective next-generation sequencing genotyping-by-sequencing technologies provided unprecedented opportunities advancing genetics research applications. For instance, it possible assemble large complex genome, high-density maps high-resolution QTL mapping, deploy genome-wide association study Furthermore, range marker genotyping platforms developed. These developments offer ample modernize current programs lentil accelerating gains. This review discusses status future possibilities genomics-assisted cultivars suitable changing climatic conditions.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) is a diploid (2n = 2x = 14), self-pollinating, cool-season, grain legume that is cultivated worldwide and is highly valuable due to its high protein content. However, lentil production is constrained by many factors including biotic stresses, majority of which are fungal diseases such as ascochyta blight (AB), fusarium wilt, rust, stemphylium blight, anthracnose, ...

Down syndrome (DS) is a birth defect with huge medical and social costs, caused by trisomy of whole or part of chromosome 21. It is the most prevalent genetic disease worldwide and the common genetic cause of intellectual disabilities appearing in about 1 in 400-1500 newborns. Although the syndrome had been described thousands of years before, it was named after John Langdon Down who described ...
